影片主人公原型是日本动画片中的铁臂阿童木，由于自己的儿子飞雄因为一次交通的事故意外意外身亡，悲痛欲绝的天马博士非常想念自己的儿子，运用当时最先进的技术制造了一个机器人，给它起名叫做阿童木。阿童木天性善良坚强勇敢，无畏无私，对所有人都极其温柔，拥有一颗十分善良且包容的美好心灵，也恰恰因为这颗心，阿童木从出生到现在，一直顶着人类各种排斥却还是义无反顾毫无怨言地帮助人类脱离困境，拯救人类，他坚信人类一定能和机器人成为朋友。通过不懈努力，最终这个勇敢善良，聪明而又正义的小机器人用实际行动打动了人类，变得人见人爱。
