The story begins on December 27, 1937, when the CPC Shandong Provincial Committee held an emergency meeting and decided to hold an uprising in Taicheng to fight against Japanese aggression. Takahiro Hamano, a Japanese army commander, took the lead in entering the territory of Taicheng, and the situation was tense. At the same time, Yang Dongliang's big wedding is being held in Yatou Village in Culai Mountain. However, the bandit leader Ju Zhenshan robbed the marriage, which triggered a series of incidents. The situation became more urgent when Yang Dongliang accidentally killed two Japanese scouts during the bandit suppression.

Yang Shounan’s eldest son, Yang Dongshan, brought Feng Chao and other comrades from the Provincial Party Committee back to Yatouzhuang to prepare for an uprising. However, the betrayal of the traitor Lu Maoheng caused Yatouzhuang to suffer bloody revenge from the Japanese army. Then, on January 1, 1938, Feng Chao and Yang Dongshan gathered more than 160 patriots at the Culaishan Temple and swore to establish the "Fourth Detachment of the Luzhong Anti-Japanese Guerrilla of the Eighth Route Army".

During the uprising, Yang Dongliang and his wife Hu Lamei, led by Feng Chao and others, successfully sneaked into Taicheng, destroyed the Japanese army's strategic plan, and successfully annihilated the Japanese army led by Takahiro Hamano.
