故事背景设定在中国古代的三国时期，王朝末年，神州中原陷入了群雄割据的时代。各路英杰和诸侯们以自身的武力讨伐、征战，试图争夺天下霸权。

然而，暗处的魍魉王意图扩大战乱，以增强自身力量，并将目光盯上了这些英杰们。他们附着在英杰身上，延长乱世纷争，并计划毁灭世界、破坏历史的平衡。

为了对抗魍魉王，名为天元的组织派遣出了「魉狩队」，试图与魍魉王决一死战，消灭他的野心。在这其中，曾经遭到全灭的魉狩六队如今再度组成，而被招募的队员都有着各自特殊的理由。

队长和封印使的应几，净灵使的洵乔，执器使的丁研以及拥有「鬼斩」之称的小灵。他们每个人背负着过去的阴影，为了生存或是保护伙伴，奋力与魍魉战斗。
