电影以2005年韩国大学黄禹锡造假事件为原型，揭露了事实的真相，可痛心的是，过程并不简单，障碍重重。主要讲述了韩国电视台的记者与举报者共同努力揭露受到国民特别期待的知名生物学家的造假的重大研究成果的故事。影片中，由于生物学家的研究成果对国家及国民有很大的帮助，所以刚开始被批露造假的时候，国民并不相信，并将枪口对准了记者与举报者，记者接到举报时，没直接证据，没有人相信记者的调查是在揭露真相。调查的过程中记者遇到了各种困难，有证人的翻供、有博士的利诱、有来自上层的压力、有民众的不理解和谩骂，是良心和正义最终驱使记者揭露了真相。直到后面，部分网友在网上发出了不一样的声音，并且自发寻找生物学家的论文造假证据，记者与举报者也顶住压力坚持争取揭露真相，事情才有了不同的发展方向
