在20世纪90年代，因为生活在上海的爷爷突然造访，打破了原有家庭的平静生活，中国家庭的父母都在努力经营和维持乡里的生活，还有年幼的孩子，也通过关系入读了当地的幼儿园，整个剧情前期显得较为平静，不过在后期也出现了上海爷爷回家的故事，上海爷爷的生活得到了改变，突然造访洋洋家庭以后也打破了他们的平静，在爷爷的到来以后，整个家庭都发生了变化，包括小孩子，因为爷爷也变得格外开朗。
