电影《英雄郑成功》讲述了一位勇敢的中国历史人物郑成功的故事。在电影中，郑成功的父亲郑芝龙投降清朝，但郑成功并不同意，他不断努力抵抗清军的进攻，最终带领军队攻下了台湾，让这片土地重新回到了中国的怀抱。

电影的故事背景发生在17世纪，明朝大半江山已经被清军占领。南明隆武帝退守福建，在郑芝龙的庇荫下苦苦支撑。隆武帝对明朝前途十分担忧，台湾正被荷兰人侵占。这时，隆武帝见到了郑芝龙之子郑森，感受到了他报国之志，赐予其国姓并名之为“成功”，希望他能够振兴大明，收复台湾。

在清军收买下，郑芝龙决定降清，而郑成功则与父亲决裂。虽然他奋力抵抗，但势单力薄，清军攻下福州城，隆武帝也败亡了。郑成功只能退守厦门以图后计。

随着时间的流逝，收复台湾的理想时时在郑成功的心中燃烧。此时每日都有大量的台湾百姓因不堪忍受荷兰殖民者的压榨而逃奔至厦门。荷舰也屡屡轰击厦门，封锁海上商道，有恃无恐。遥望着近在咫尺的定岛，目睹荷兰殖民者的暴行，郑成功下定决心收复台湾。

为了收复台湾，郑成功的红颜知已薛良冒死赴台寻找一位名叫何斌的人，此人知晓荷军在岛上的布署。薛良到台湾，找到了何斌，但自己被扣为人质。何斌带回海图，郑成功找到了攻打台湾的最佳路径和时机。

1661年4月，郑成功率兵两万五千、战舰两百艘进攻台湾。清顺治帝下令清军不得趁机进攻，让郑成功放心大胆地收复台湾。

Although Zheng Chenggong fought hard to resist, he was single and weak. The Qing army captured Fuzhou City, and Emperor Longwu was defeated. Zheng Chenggong retreated to Xiamen, waiting for the opportunity

More than ten years have passed, Zheng Chenggong is still burning with enthusiasm to regain Taiwan. Every day, a large number of Taiwanese people escaped from the oppression of the Dutch colonists and came to Xiamen. The Dutch fleet continuously bombarded Xiamen and blocked the sea trade routes without any restraint. Zheng Chenggong witnessed the atrocities committed by the Dutch colonists, and saw Dingdao, which was just around the corner, and made up his mind to recover Taiwan. Xue Liang, Zheng Chenggong's confidante, ventured to Taiwan to find a man named He Bin, who knew the deployment of the Dutch army on the island. Xue Liang arrived in Taiwan, found He Bin, but was taken hostage himself. He Bin brought back the chart and Zheng Chenggong found the best path and timing to attack Taiwan.

In April 1661, Zheng Chenggong led 25,000 soldiers and 200 warships to attack Taiwan. Emperor Shunzhi of the Qing Dynasty ordered the Qing army not to attack, allowing Zheng Chenggong to recover Taiwan with peace of mind. Zheng Chenggong used the tide of heavenly soldiers to attack Chixian City. The Dutch army was unable to fight, so they had to take Xue Liang and others as hostages at the head of the city. Xue Liang looked at Zheng Chenggong from a distance, and jumped off the tower resolutely while smiling. Zheng Chenggong led his soldiers to break through the defense line of the Dutch army and captured Chijian City. Eight months later, after the Netherlands regained Taiwan, Zheng Chenggong started his Taiwan construction business. He attached great importance to the construction of agriculture and water conservancy, and implemented the policy of "expanding the territory, governing the people and stabilizing the country", which gradually made Taiwan a prosperous agricultural and handicraft area.
